It was a dark and stormy night.

The waves rocked the boat back and forth without halt; up and down, the floor itself moved with every wave, pushing and pulling the passengers along with it, tilting an inch more with every time a splash of cold salty water hit the deck, drenching everyone inside.

Lightning struck at a distance, but the waves deafened the sound, only leaving the light as the inside of the cruise ship was lit just for a split second, the chaos and destruction obvious, the wail of the strained metal of the boat, bringing it ever closer to breaking.

But it was all barely nothing comparing to the screams of the people; every move, every shift, every second was just a reason for them to empty their lungs in a long shout; only to do so once more the very moment the air returned.

Then, one last wave struck the ship, and it toppled over.

Water ran its way into every room, every hall, every deck and every exit; the foamy wave hit me like a truck, with such strength everything went dark before I could even notice my body being dragged by the herculean current.

-------

I abruptly sat as I felt air couldn't reach my lungs, to immediately vomit out water in an attempt to get air.

Coughing while desperately attempting to breathe, I crawled away from the water, from the waves, and up the sand.

Trying to make sense out of what was happening, why I was on a beach, on some shore and almost freezing to death despite being under direct sunlight.

"There's someone over here!" I heard someone shouting at a distance; I was still too blinded and dazed to know or even care about the situation.

Not more than one or two minutes latter, I felt a mantle wrapping me tightly as I was brought up to my feet.

"You ok?" I heard someone ask me, her face coming up into view, she was a Caucasian with rather short black hair. "What's your name?"

"John." I managed to mumble. "Where am I?"

"My guess is as good as yours." she replied as I managed to stand on my own. "They're Kyle and Tony." she pointed at the Afro-American guy with extremely short black hair and the Chinese guy with somewhat long black one respectively. "I'm Selene." she pointed around her. "And this is The Island."

"Seems we got stranded here after the ship sank." Kyle pointed out. "With you, we're seven."

"Do you have a plan?" I wondered as I followed them down the shore. "Or have you been here just for a couple of hours?"

"In my case, I woke up around morning." Selene stated. "Though everyone else's been popping up with the tide around midday."

"Have you found any drinkable water or food?" the question came with the growl of my stomach.

"Not yet." she almost sighed the words. "We're surviving on supplies that washed ashore." she paused for an instant as she looked around. "But I doubt we'll last more than two or three more days."

"Great." I sighed. "We're in some island in the middle of the Pacific and our supplies won't last more than a couple days." I shook my head for a moment as I looked inland, the jungle covered anything that was more than thirty yard away from the Ocean. "And I doubt it'll be soon before rescue comes here."

"What do you mean it'll be a while?" Tony's voice shook with something more than intrigue.

"Guessing by the relative location of the ship before the storm struck, we should be in one of the small islands around the northeast of Australia." I began to take the lead as I looked around, trying to find anything that could be of help. "Considering the strength of the currents, I'm sure we're very far from where the ship sank." I sighed as I mumbled the words almost by heart. "By normal standards, it'd take search parties to get to the area where the ship sank about a day or two, then they'd begin looking in the most likely places survivors could be for a couple weeks at most."

"How do you know this?" Kyle almost demanded.

"My father's an ex-marine." came my answer. "I heard things like this from him." I saw several people somewhat far from where we were, I guessed they were the others. "Either way, our best chances lie on catching the attention of some bypassing ship if we're close to a commercial route; or fisher ship from someone from one of the nearby islands."

"Meaning?" Selene was the one who seemed most calm of them.

"We should prepare ourselves to stay here at least a week here." I responded. "Our first priority is to find fresh water and shelter; we should be able to find some fish near the shore, and even eatable fruit or meat inland." I muttered, once more, by heart. "We've gotta make sure by tomorrow we have a way to call the attention of anyone passing nearby, but surviving comes first."

Not a minute latter, we had gathered along with the others; I couldn't avoid but notice everyone (including myself) seemed to be around the ages of twenty and thirty.

The other three were Samantha, a red haired girl with green eyes and a rather short body; Maria, a tall, brown haired Caribbean girl who didn't seem to know English; and  Tim, a blond and blue eyed prick who seemed unable to cope with the situation.

By this time, I had taken off the mantle since my body had warmed up once more, getting used to the humid heat of the location.

"Ok, listen up." I was the one to finally break the long awkward silence after everyone had introduced themselves. "We've gotta find water, and the best way to do that is by  dividing into groups." I pointed at Kyle. "Since you're the only one capable of talking with Maria, you go with her." I then pointed at Tim. "You'll go with Tony." then I turned to Selene. "You stay with Samantha."

"Who're you to decide who goes with who?" Tim was the first to complain. "Just who made you the leader here?"

"No one did." I replied. "But if you've got a better idea, please go ahead." since no one spoke, I continued. "All but Selene's group will come with me into the jungle and we'll divide in look for fresh water; if anyone finds it, come back here immediately." I then turned toward Samantha and Selene. "You two try to find any edible fruit or plant nearby, also gather as much dry wood as you can so we can start a fire."

"What if we don't find water?" asked Tony.

"Start heading back around an hour and a half before sundown." I stated. "It's best to be out of the jungle by the time it gets dark." I paused for a second, thinking. "If you've got a watch, start heading back around five, even if you don't find anything."

"Ok, we'll go this way." Tony pointed to the right, going into the forest, but following the beach, almost dragging Tim along.

"And we'll go the other way." Kyle added as he had finished translating to Maria.

"Then I'll go straight in." I sighed, choosing what was going what most likely the hardest of routes.

Being already somewhat used to this kind of situation, I began to dodge trees and walk around thorny bushes; it was hot, long and hard, but the thought of there being a stream or some fresh water nearby was more than enough incentive, specially when my throat felt like sandpaper.

I took a short break every hour, but the heat and humidity were more taxing than what I had remembered; luckily I had found a couple of fruit trees with enough sugar and water to keep me going.

It took me around four hours, but I eventually began to hear the sound of running water; I hurried my pace a bit, and soon enough I had found a stream; since it was so small, I decided to follow it to its source and determine whether or not it could be contaminated in some way.

Ten minutes latter, I had reached a small pond, with pristine and clear waters, enough for someone to easily take a bath inside; or in my case, more than pure and cold enough to be an extremely refreshing source of hydratation.

Mission complete and with nothing better to do, I began to walk back to the shore, in hopes that the others had found fresh water that was closer than this one.

Like before, it took me almost four hours, but the heat had begun to diminish since the hottest hour had already passed by; and by the time I was reaching the beach, the sun was already setting; -Perfect timing- I thought to myself as I finally let myself fall on the soft sand, next to a pile of small dry wood I guessed Selene and Samantha had gathered.

"So how did it go?" asked Selene as she came into sight, carrying some tree bark and what looked like fruit. "Found anything?" she added, I noticed Samantha was following close behind, with pretty much the same load.

"There's a stream of fresh water, about four hours from here." I sighed. "I also found some edible fruit along the way." I looked around a bit. "Has anyone else gotten back yet?"

"Maria and Kyle are helping out." Samantha commented. "They went to pick some stones over there; but Tim and Tony haven't come back yet."

Her statement sounded nervous, and honestly speaking, I had my doubts if this was a good sign; Tim seemed like the kind of guy who couldn't stand nature, so my guess was that they either found civilization, or they had gotten lost; or worse.

"They should be back soon." I reassured them. "And I doubt anything bad could've happened, this Island doesn't seem big enough for there to be anything too dangerous."

Even after I had said that, her stare didn't seem too convinced.

Either way, by the time Maria and Tony had gotten back, I had already started a small fire, strong enough to keep us warm during the already cooling night.

"We sleep in shifts." I said. "So that we keep the fire alive till morning, and also watch out in case the tide comes too far up."

"I'll take the first shift." Tony volunteered. "I'll wake you up in four hours." he added as he stared at me.

"Fine by me." I dropped on my back. "Good night."

And with that said, I fell asleep right away; feeling too tired to even dwell on the fact I was in no bed, but on top of sand and without even a sheet.

Though oddly enough, I wasn't woken up shortly after; instead, when I opened my eyes, I found that the sky was lighting up once more, orange already vanishing to let way to the deep blue.

"The hell?" I looked around with groggy eyes and sand filled clothes, wondering for a fraction of a second what had happened to the room and cruise ship.

By the time my mind had reminded itself what had happened, I was wondering who were the two girls lying to both sides of me; neither of which I could recognize.

The first, on my left, had long blonde hair that had more than enough length to reach her broad hips, her skin had a familiar tanned honey color, along with a petite nose and somewhat cute, if not beautiful, face; plus she seemed to be around my height and age. However what caught my attention was that she was wearing nothing but what looked like a set of old, dusty and ragged short jeans, fully exposing her generously round and soft breasts, which made me momentarily blush and turn to the other side.

Giving me the sight of the second woman, who was rather short along with oriental kind of features; short black hair, and that distinguished skin color from somewhere south of China; her proportions didn't seem as developed as the woman on my right, however, her looks seemed much more exotic. And just like the first one, she wore the same kind of shorts, also revealing a rather tender and firm looking bosom.

"Morning John." I heard someone greet, and I turned my head to see Selene, who was calmly leaving some dry wood besides the charcoals that had been our fire. "Sleep well?"

"Who are they?" I asked as I pointed at the two girls, unable to find any prior memory of them. "Have Tim or Tony come back yet?"

"What're you talking about?" she seemed confused. "Did you hit your head or something?" she added. "They're Tam and Trisha, they had been stranded in The Island for months before we got here." she paused for a second. "And who're Tim and Tony?"

"What?" I stuttered, her words didn't seem to match that one day memory I had of being stranded.

"You must really need some coffee." Selene sighed. "Don't you remember?" she got closer as she looked carefully at me for a second. "After we set out to look for water, you found both of them taking a bath in a nearby stream." she chuckled. "Or at least that's what you told us when we got back." she stared at them. "Latter on they explained they had been stranded on The Island for several months now, and that today they'd take the five of us to where they've been staying."

After she said this, she began to walk back into the forest, seemingly sure of what she was doing or looking for, leaving me with a both startled and confused state.

But it didn't last long, as I soon felt movement at my sides, and I immediately realized it was *Tam* and *Trisha* who were waking up.

"Morning..." groggily stated Tam, at my left as she stretched her arms behind her head, fully showing me the extent of her cleavage, her deep blue eyes locked on me at all times.

"Yeah... morning." yawned Trisha, who was standing up, and stretching herself in a similar way.

"Hey... you seen my shirt anywhere?" Tam asked, in the same manner as if she were speaking of a pen or piece of paper.

"Mister peeping Tom here made us loose it, remember?" Trisha stated as she poked me on the shoulder, though somehow I got the strangest of feelings she was being playful rather than angry. "It was washed downstream along with mine."

"Guess we'll have to take new ones from the house." Tam yawned as she pecked me on the cheek, which left me that much more confused and startled. "Say, would you like some fish for breakfast?"

Without another word, she and Trisha headed straight towards the ocean with a sharp stick in hand, as if it were the most natural of things; to soon after disappear under the waves, seemingly already looking for food.

What was going on?, how come I didn't remember any of this?, what happened to Tim and Tony?

Somehow, I had the strange feeling this... *Island* was different from other ones.

And I wasn't sure if I wanted to find out what was different.
One of many random stories I've got in store; dunno why, but the summer heat seems to direct my imagination towards sea... sky... water...

I'll post more as I finish it.

I'm somewhat sure this'll turn into a series, but I doubt it'll be a long one (unless I turn it into something along the lines of... well, LOST)

And no, I'm not 100% sure if Tam and Trisha are Tim and Tony.

PS; updates will be somewhat slow, family projects consume a lot of time, and I'm not the kind of guy to spend all free time in my computer; sorry, but that's how it is.
