I came back to reality rather abruptly.

I'd have normally sat down and looked around in an attempt to see if I had been munched to pieces, but I soon found out I couldn't move, mainly because I was tied up.

Which made me realize just how much my head hurt, and how sore my body felt.

Struggling against the knots, I attempted to learn about my surroundings, and I soon noticed I was in the middle of a forest, it was still nighttime, and I wasn't alone.

I froze as I saw them, other creatures like the one that had attacked me, standing almost ten feet in height, with a muscular yet slim and strong build, covered in fur, with the head and tail of a wolf, and legs and hands that didn't seem to be either human nor animal.

Four of them in total, none were looking my way, they seemed more preoccupied with something I couldn't quite see from this angle.

Not moving an inch, I tried to calm down and get the knots loose without calling any attention upon myself.

I noticed the knots were rather simple, a kid could've done them, but they were so tensed up I could barely feel my own hands, as they were almost cutting my circulation.

Still, I managed to silently undo the knots while keeping myself still.

Once my hands were free, I worked on those on my ankles, which were even easier since my hands were untied.

And just when I was about to being standing up and try to get as far as I could without making a sound, I heard the snap of a twig behind me.

Slowly turning around, I stared at the same guy that had turned into that creature and attacked me before I had blacked out, though he was wearing only a set of ragged shorts.

"I think you'd better not." he almost snarled the words. "Though if you want, you can try making a run for it, so we have the chance to hunt you down before you get out of this forest." he chuckled a bit. "If you even find your way to the city."

"It's in that direction." I pointed towards my left, certain of my words. "And who are you?" I added as I took some precaution distance. "No, I think it should be more like what are you?"

"I guess werewolf would be the best term to be used with... us." he sighed in response, I notice the four that had been in front of me were now paying close attention to my movements. "Name's Brandon by the way."

"And what's going to happen?, Brandon." I stated, making clear with my tone of voice I wasn't one bit comfortable.

"Relax a bit, will you?" he said, though with no effect on me. "Had we wanted to kill you, we'd have done that before you woke up." he sighed. "Actually, I'd rather talk right now."

"Yeah... talk." I added sarcasm in case it wasn't obvious. "You tied me up and brought me into the forest just to talk."

"Well, actually, yes." he said. "Amber's the one who decides what we do with you, and she said it'd be best to bring you here unharmed."

"Amber?" I wondered who he meant, the pack leader perhaps?

"The one who's bike you brought." he bluntly stated. "She's the one in charge of all of us, like a pack leader if you will." he shook his head. "Normally we'd just kill you or turn you into one of us, but she insisted to leave you human for the time being."

"Wait a minute..." I felt a bit more confused now. "You're telling me this whole... werewolf thing works like in the stories?, one bite and you're part of the pack?"

"It's a bit more complex than that, but mainly, yes." he chuckled, a short laugh escaping him. "Either way, since you already know our secret, we're trying to figure out what to do with you."

"Wasn't it *kill* or *transform*?" I said. "If you're uncertain, you might as well flip a coin."

He didn't answer, rather, he remained staring at me, with a cold hateful gaze, making the silence that much more uncomfortable.

Which was soon interrupted by a howl that felt not that far away from here.

"Come." Brandon suddenly stated as he grabbed my elbow. "And if you try anything funny, I'll be sure to not miss this time."

I complied to his demands and walked along, the four werewolves that had been in front were now behind, as if to make sure I didn't have a chance to run away.

Ten or fifteen minutes latter, we came to a halt as we reached a clearing; I saw many other werewolves gathered there, at least twenty of them; all staring at me as Brandon pulled me into the center of the circle.

Once there, they began to look at one another rather nervously, though no words came out, I'm pretty sure they were somehow communicating.

"Ok, ok, you can stop mumbling, I'm here." a voice came from the other side of the clearing, I saw someone walking towards us, wearing a set of jeans and a shirt, neither of which seemed to be the right size. "So, you're the guy from this morning." she stated, I realized she was the same amber-eyed girl that had almost ran me over. "You fix bikes rather nicely."

"I honestly don't know what to say in this sort of situation." I replied, not sure whether or not I was going to become chow feed or a pooch.

"A simple thanks would've been enough." I raised an eyebrow to her statement. "It's not that easy to convince the whole pack to leave you as you are." she sighed as she shook her head. "Hell, if not for you, I'd be transformed and running around rather than like this."

"So what're we gonna do with him?" asked Brandon, his tone reminded me against that of a soldier talking to a general.

"We let him live, and as a human." Amber said. "We aren't killers, and our powers should be considered a gift, not a curse or punishment." I noticed everyone around was becoming tense, even angry in some cases. "Now, since we can't risk him revealing our secret, and neither can we erase his memories, our best option is to have him stay at our dorm to keep an eye on him and make sure he's to be trusted."

At her words, many of the werewolves present began to complain in low grumbles, howls or even snarls; language which I couldn't quite translate, but was sure meant they didn't approve of her decision.

"Do you not remember what happened with Mike?" she suddenly snapped, and everyone went silent. "If you do, then shut it and do as I say." she continued. "If he isn't of trust, we'll do with him what we did with Mike."

With that said, they disbanded, and most left while others stared at me for a couple of minutes before leaving as well; only Brandon, Amber and I remained.

"So I've gotta move to your dorm?" I broke the silence. "Are all your members...?"

"Yes." Brandon cut my words short. "We all are."

"Either way, you'll spend the night here." Amber was blunt and serious. "Your dorm is already closed at this hour, it'd be best if you returned tomorrow to pick your stuff up."

"What about the papers?" I wondered, putting aside the whole *living with wolves* scenario from my head.

"We can take care of that easily." she sighed, then pointed in a direction in front of her. "Walk in that direction, you should reach the dorm in about twenty minutes; the back door's open." she paused for a moment. "There's a room on the first floor with an X on it, you can use that one for tonight."

"What about you?" I asked as I stared at her.

"Pretty much the obvious." she stared back. "I'll go wolf and enjoy what's left of the night and try to make up for all I've missed so far."

With that said, the both of them turned around and walked in the opposite direction, while I wondered what I should do.

Sighing loudly, I began to walk in the direction they had pointed me to, trying to organize my thoughts and intentions; -Werewolves...- I thought over and over again, the idea gave me a tingle, of both fear and curiosity.

Just as Amber had said, I was back at the dorm no more than twenty minutes latter; following her instructions, I went for the back door and opened with ease.

The inside of the building was almost as bad as the outside, it smelled like dog all over, and the very paint was crumbling off the walls.

Following the corridor, I reached a hall dimly lighted by the moon from outside, I looked around, and found a wooden door with a large "X" scratched into it; seeing it gave me a chill, but I still went inside.

The room was entirely empty, not even a bed or desk to use; I wondered what use the room had been given since it didn't even smell like wild animal.

Already used to sleeping in odd positions and without mantles or a bed, I placed my back against a corner and attempted to fall asleep, even as the sound of howls could be heard at a distance.

Oddly enough, I fell asleep rather quickly.
Third part.

Came out sooner than expected.

Like how I made it, at least for the time being; with a hint of mystery and a bit more, just to increase interest.

Enjoy
