Silence was only interrupted by the daring sound of the microwave oven, who was disrespectful enough not to appreciate the life-changing moment this was.

Everyone was staring at the small television, most of whom, including myself, had their jaws hanging wide open.

"It's been confirmed that the vaccine has a 99,8% chance of working." the reporter stated. "It works on both infected and pure; the composition of the vaccine hasn't yet been released to the public." she continued. "The government has confirmed that they'll give out the vaccine for free..." she froze up as she seemingly took in what she had just said. "...the vaccine will be given out here, at city hall, along with several other designated areas, marked in this map."

A map of the city came out, there were only five spots, being the one in the center city-hall, and the rest on the areas near the edge of the city.

My mind raced to see which was the closest one to my current location, and much to my joy, I wasn't that far off from one of them, maybe no more than a ten minute ride from here.

"Sorry, gotta go." I stated as I patted Abi on the back, while putting on my helmet with my other hand, and grabbing my cellphone as fast as I could; I heard she said something, but I wasn't sure what since I was already running out of the place.

I called my parents, and within twenty seconds of talking, I had explained everything without the slightest of hesitations, running towards the school's entrance as I did.

"I'll meet you there." were my final words before I hung up.

Doing the math mentally, I realized they would easily take around half an hour to get to the place with my younger sister, meaning I'd already be there by then.

"Where do you think you're going, kid?" I was halted by the policeman at the entrance of the school. "Class hasn't ended yet."

"Didn't you hear?" I blurted out. "A vaccine to the virus has been made!"

His eyes widened, as he grabbed his radio and asked something, getting the confirmation soon after.

"Ok, I suggest you run." he stated as he let me through. "Cause I'm supposedly not allowed to let anyone out from here until I get authorization from central."

"Thanks Bob!" I replied as I began running down the street. "I'll make sure to get you doughnuts next time I come to school!"

I ran and ran; honestly speaking, not having my bio-suit would have made it much more easier, but I had gotten used to it long ago, and I wasn't going to risk getting infected and dying before I got there, hell if I was going to even think about taking off the helmet.

But four blocks latter, I was panting for breath, and I was sweating profusely, my heavy breathing fogging up the helmet from the inside, reducing my visibility to shapeless blurs of color that were zooming through my field of vision.

Twenty minutes latter, I saw a mass of cars and people around what I remembered to be an old and abandoned solar; there were many military and police vehicles around the area, and I was certain the number of armed men exceeded forty.

I made my way through the shouting mob and, after fifteen minutes of wrestling to the front of the lines, I reached the line of serious looking soldiers, aiming their weapons at the public.

"We have authorization to use live ammo were you to trespass unauthorized." a high ranking officer screamed through his hand-held loudspeaker, causing the whole mob to go silent all of a sudden. "Either you collaborate, or we will have no other option but to use force." the silence was almost deadly. "Now, you will come here in two lines, those of you who're infected, and those who aren't; after a short test, you'll be given the vaccine." he instructed. "Do not worry, we have more than enough vaccines for everyone, but if you panic or cause chaos, you'll be denied yours."

It took almost a full hour before the mob had organized themselves, into two separate lines; by that time, my parents had managed to get there, and we were all near the front waiting for our turn to get the vaccine.

Once they whole thing was calm and quiet, they began admitting them into the separate tents.

Our turn came about five minutes latter, and as a whole group, the four of us walked inside, where a guy wearing a lab coat was waiting for us.

After we answered several questions, and handed the paperwork that proved we were *clean*, they sent us to separate tables; mine had a middle aged nurse with a really tired look on her face waiting for me with a needle.

"Ok, give me your finger." she said as I stretched my arm; she pinched it, allowing a single drop of blood fall onto a piece of paper she was holding; after a couple of seconds, it turned a soft green kind of color. "Good, it seems you only need one shot."

"One shot?" I wondered out loud.

"Depending on the color, you'll need one or more shots." she sighed, sinking the syringe into my arm with one swift movement, I barely felt the sting. "You're likely to get a fever and feel weak between today and tomorrow, so it's advised that you rest and not push yourself." she stated, as if reading a line from a pamphlet. "And even though this vaccine makes you immune to the Blue Flower disease, you'll be carrying it were you to be exposed, so make sure not to enter in contact with anyone who hasn't received the shot yet."

"Wait, wait, wait..." I stumbled to say. "This vaccine doesn't kill the virus?"

"No, it only makes it avoid it from killing you." she snapped back. "The same way a dog can carry it, yet won't die because of it." she gestured to the door. "Now move along, we've got plenty of people to attend to."

I gathered with my parents and sister; once we had put on our suits, we headed back to our house.

Dunno if it was because of the vaccine or because I had ran all the way to the place, but I was feeling a bit winded, and without any energy; so I, like the rest of my family, decided to go take a nap.

I fell asleep right as my head landed on the pillow, I didn't even care that I still had my clothes on, nor that I felt a bit chilly; I just fell asleep.

Now, I'm not usually the kind of person to have dreams; hell, I rarely have dreams at all; however, the dream I had that time was vivid like nothing else I had ever experienced, almost as if I had been living it instead of dreaming.

In my dream, I was running; just sprinting through a vast plain, with nothing but soft golden grass on it. The warm sun shun down on me, its warmth filling my body to the very core, only abated by the soft wind glazing itself through my skin, chilling me with its soft touch as it encouraged me to only go faster.

I couldn't stop, my speed was just building up more and more, faster and faster; the landscape a blur of colors as every muscle in my body screamed, asking for my heart to beat faster, my legs to move more quickly, the wind on my face to become stronger.

Seconds turned to minutes, and hours into seconds; I just kept on, not stopping no matter how far I went.

Yet I began to slow down, my muscles tired and my body a bit sore from having gone so fast for so long; seeing a small pool of fresh water, I walked in that direction, my lungs slowly returning to a normal rhythm as my heart stopped beating so hard against my chest.

And just when I was about to begin drinking some of the water, I saw my own reflection on it; I wasn't human, I recognized, I was some sort of feline; though I couldn't quite pin down the species.

For a second, I stared at my own golden eyes in confusion, not certain as to why I felt both familiar and uncomfortable by the sudden realization.

But I didn't have much time to dwell on it, since everything vanished as I woke up back in my room.

"What a weird dream." I sighed as I shook my head a bit, yawning as I stared at the clock in my night table, the red numbers showing a red *20:03*, which made me wonder if it was the same day from having the vaccine, or the day after. "A bit bright for eight O'clock." I mumbled as I looked around, I could see everything as clearly as if it were broad daylight.

Groggily, I rubbed my eyes as I walked towards the bathroom, thinking about washing my face a bit to jump-start myself back from slumber.

A shriek escaped me as the door closed, an intense sensation of pain coming from somewhere I hadn't thought possible.

Turning around, my eyes widened as they saw a fluff of white, black and yellow fur extending from my behind to the frame of the closed door.

I opened the door slowly, and a second jolt of pain ran through me as I had done it too quickly; lowering a hand, I touched the long white tipped tail, following it all the way to my rear, and feeling my hands touching it as well.

My eyes widened in sheer shock as the realization came to me.

That was my tail.
Lost Internet connection for a couple days, meant to upload this sooner but couldn't.

Most of the work at my house's done, and we're taking today as a non-work day cause tomorrow we start classes; I'm not sure if to take it as something to be happy about or not.
